Last evening, at the New Theatre in Water-street, the
Careless Husband, and Harlequin Collector, were acted before
a very crouded and polite audience, for the benefit of the
Charity Children belonging to the Academy of this city; on
which occasion the following prologue was spoken by Mr.
Rigby.
  Our humble prologue means not to engage
  Candour for scenes that long have grac'd the stage;
  Nor vainly strives to pay with words, at last,
  For cheering smiles, and kind protection past.
